Targeted Microbial ID with 16S rRNA Sanger Sequencing

We employ 16S rRNA Sanger Sequencing for the accurate and rapid identification of bacteria and archaea, ensuring reliable species-level classification for your samples.

Comprehensive Microbial Profiling with Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS)

Unmatched accuracy, expansive detection: For the most detailed microbial insights, our Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) capabilities stand apart, allowing us to identify multiple microorganisms, including their specific species and strain variations, from a single sample.

Built for complex samples: WGS is vital for deep microbial profiling and critical in preventing and controlling contamination, particularly when dealing with complex environmental and water isolates.

Faster answers, stronger compliance: Its application ensures faster identification of contaminants, significantly boosts product safety, and helps meet stringent industry regulatory requirements.

BY ORGANISM TYPE

Microbial Identification Service by Organism Type

Bacteria

Bacteria

geneOmbio’s ISO/IEC 17025-accredited workflow uses full-length 16S rRNA gene sequencing to pinpoint bacterial isolates with ≥99 % accuracy. From DNA extraction to Sanger sequencing and database comparison (NCBI), every step is fully validated and quality and compliance . You receive a concise species-level report, similarity scores, phylogenetic tree, and raw chromatograms for complete traceability. With rapid turnaround, our service resolves contamination events, authenticates reference strains, and supports regulatory submissions.
Fungi

Fungi

geneOmbio’s ISO/IEC 17025-accredited mycology workflow combines ITS, 18S, and LSU rDNA sequencing to deliver species-level identification of fungi and yeasts with ≥99 % confidence. Rigorous DNA extraction, bidirectional Sanger sequencing, and curated database matching (NCBI) ensure traceable, regulator-ready results. Clients receive a clear taxonomic report, similarity metrics, phylogenetic tree, and raw chromatograms for full data transparency. Typical turnaround is ideal for contamination troubleshooting, strain authentication, and GMP or pharmacopoeial compliance.
Algae

Algae

geneOmbio’s ISO/IEC 17025-accredited algal ID workflow harnesses 18S rRNA along with auxiliary barcodes such as rbcL and tufA to pinpoint microalgae and seaweed species with ≥99 % confidence. Validated DNA extraction, bidirectional sequencing (Sanger or NGS), and comparisons against curated algal libraries (PR², BOLD, GenBank) ensure regulator-ready traceability. Clients receive an annotated taxonomic report, similarity metrics, phylogenetic tree, and raw chromatograms/FASTQ files for full data transparency. With a faster turnaround, the service supports environmental monitoring, aquaculture QA, and biodiversity or bioprospecting studies
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

Microbial Identification Frequently asked question

How does geneOmbio handle sample shipment and provide sample pickup?

For clients within the Pune cluster, we can arrange dedicated sample pickups through our field executives. For the rest of Maharashtra and pan-India locations, clients can ship samples via standard or temperature-controlled couriers (using gel packs or dry ice as required). Detailed packaging guidelines are provided upon sample booking.

What type of sample is required for Microbial Identification services?

We recommend the client provide pure and isolated cultures on disposable plastic petri plates. A fresh culture and single type of colonies are preferred for accurate identification purposes. A completely filled requisition form is to be submitted with samples for Microbial Identification services (MID).

How do we handle mixed cultures or contaminated plates during microbial identification?

Samples flagged with mixed morphologies or contamination during initial QC are immediately reported to the client. We offer in-house single-colony purification and isolation to establish pure culture lines before proceeding with molecular identification at additional charges.

What is the sample processing Workflow ?

Our workflow follows a structured sequence: Sample Receipt & Integrity QC- High Yield Extraction- PCR Amplification / Library Preparation- High-Resolution Sequencing – Bioinformatic Analysis & Database Curation -Quality Review – Audit-Ready Certificate of Analysis (CoA) release.

Can the geneOmbio technical team assist in a technical call if any support is required ?

Yes. Our technical team is happy to assist through technical calls to clarify queries, discuss phylogenetic data, and assist during internal or regulatory audits.
