Plant DNA fingerprinting RAPD SSR ISSR

geneOmbio has an exclusive division for basic and advanced research and services in the field of plant science, seed technology and plant molecular biology. DNA Fingerprinting consists of identification of the genetic make-up of the genomes of seeds or plant-tissue samples, thus revealing the alleles present in an individual plant.DNA-based RestrictedFragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) technique enables to analyse samples collected from plants growing almost anywhere. Samples, usually leaves, are preferably dried on silica gel before being transported to our central laboratory, where they are kept frozen until DNA isolation. Out of DNA based methods, random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) approach is one of the most popular method due to small quantities of sample DNA, and the simple and fast procedures compared to the hybridization-based methods. For large-scale profiling, e.g., accessions in a genetic resources collection, Simple sequence repeats (SSR) and Inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) based methods are usually preferred.

We at geneOmbio offer the following: Genomic DNA extraction, Primer Design for chloroplast, mitochondrial and nuclear genes, DNA amplification using PCR, PCR product purification, DNA Sequencing, Data analysis and Sequence Submission to Central Databases (as required).

Genetic Fingerprinting allows for Quality Control through verification of seed quality/ variety, identification of hybrids, understanding genetic diversity as well as identifying and verifying unique genetic fingerprints for IP related matters.
